Some labels do Folk, some do Rock, some do Country or Funk or Americana. Some do Indie, some do Pop, some do regional things and some labels release really far out, blow your mind kinds of sounds. We dig all that.
We are, however, specific about a few things.
Our Commitment.
Three Pin Records donates one percent of all sales to 1% For The Planet, benefiting the Organic Farming Research Foundation. All Three Pin Records are carbon neutral through financial contributions to theThe Climate Trust's offset portfolio. With each of our artists' releases, we do everything we can to use as little plastic as possible and print using soy-based inks on 100% recycled paper. We are also currently working with our friends at 1% to use biodegradable shrink wrap for those records that distributors say need to be in plastic. Nobody likes that plastic anyway, so we figure, if it has to be there for shipping purposes, let's make sure you can throw it in the compost soon as you get it off and press play.
Our Sound.
The music we seek to support and put out into the world is basically the soundtrack we want to hear when we head to the mountain for fresh snow. It's music you listen to on the way up the canyon to get some turns, or on your way to the river, or when you head to the desert for a rock climbing or mountain biking trip. It's also what we hear on the way home from those adventures.
Point of Clarity:
With the rapid growth of digital portable music, we are seeing more and more people wearing headphones on the mountain, while hiking, etc. We think that's plain stupid. Although we love people supporting independent music, we don't particularly like to see that on the mountain. Not only is it dangerous, but the whole point of getting to the trailhead is to experience that old, quiet music that's been around forever. Hence our point above that Three Pin Records is your soundtrack to and from your dose of nature, not during it.
