With a view of the gothic St. John's Bridge outside his kitchen window in North Portland, Presberg transformed his dining room into a studio and created a musical impression of Portland, Oregon. "Blueprint of Soul" consists of songs written in a stream of consciousness, tracks done in one take, and unforgettable improvisational grooves. The result is a funky Friday-night record.
Listen to "Foster Fatty," (named after Foster Road) and you'll feel the movement of a big-legged neighbor taking her daily stroll. You will hear the hip, yet dark and slick sounds inspired from the Burnside Bridge on "Beneath the Burnside." Even a passerby's methamphetamine jaunt from the infamous 82nd Ave appears on "82nd Ave Strut."
The concept and pure funkyness of the album will even attract those not familiar with the city of Roses and includes original illustrations by Three Pin Artist, Giovanni Salimena.
The instrumental musical sounds from Blueprint of Soul are scheduled to appear in several upcoming national films.
Teddy Presberg is currently playing the music from Blueprint of Soul live with his new band: The Red Note Revivalists.

One again, Presberg delivers fresh genre-bending music—pulsing with funk—through his signature of honest, raw recordings. The album features a handful of works that seemingly blend into one another—yet each cover a unique musical purpose. From busted home studio recordings with cameos from his dog, to dream sequences interspersed with live recordings at St. Louis’s infamous Delmar Lounge; from jazz takes captured in the dining room, to random recordings of spring birds caroling from Presberg’s Midwest back yard.
“There is no sound proofing of my house in my recording method,” states Presberg. “I’m very into listening to a track and hearing the natural reverb of the rafters, walls, and glass. I also use the Jack Kerouac method of first takes and writing songs on the fly.” That recording style, along with his prowess on the guitar, has made him a darling of the bloggers: “The baddest soul jazz guitarist you’ve never heard of,” (Arch Magazine) and “The crown prince of funk improv,” (Bullfrog Reviews).
