Three Pin Productions Events
May 2007 - September 2007

In April 2007, Bridgeport Brewing Company approached Three Pin seeking help launching the newest addition to their award-winning portfolio of beers: a summer seasonal called
Haymaker Extra Pale Ale. Given the already-established visual brand attributes of Haymaker (rural, sunshine, rooster, hay - or straw if you're a connoisseur) and the taste (sunshine in a glass, refreshing, light), Three Pin created what the beer sounded like and consulted on the product's launch.

Nothing tastes better with a beer after a hot summer day of work (or play!) than some good ole' picking, right? So with the help of some of the nation's finest acoustic and bluegrass musicians who proudly call Portland home, Three Pin created a super band called
Huckaman & the Haymakers who sing one song and one song only:
Huckaman's Ode to Portland, an old ode to the craft beer capital of the world - a perfect fit for Oregon's oldest craft brewery.
The Haymaker launch consisted of two components: the May 3rd launch party + six pack inserts. For the launch party, Huckaman and his Haymaker bassist (Stinky Pete) made an appearance to perform the song, sign autographs and get everybody singing along to their new summer theme song (and beer!). In coordination with the actual event, all six packs of Haymaker that hit the shelves in Alaska, Arizona, Northern California, Colorado, Idaho, Washington and Oregon throughout the summer will include an insert driving people to

Three Pin Records' Garett Brennan wrote the "Garden of Wonders" theme song for Abernethy Elementary School's event "Lunch & Learn." The event, presented by Ecotrust and the Injury Free Coalition for Kids, celebrated and invited the greater Portland community to learn about the Garden of Wonders program at the school. Presentations included cooking demonstrations highlighting the school's from-scratch kitchen and garden-based curriculum that teaches kids where their food comes from and in what season they should be shopping for it.

Three Pin provided event planning, media relations and guerrilla marketing support for
Ecotrust's 2006 Salmon Nation Block Party. The Block Party was also the 5-year anniversary of Ecotrust's Jean Vollum Natural Capital Center. In collaboration with performers' fan lists, the Salmon Nation citizenship program and traditional media outlets, we attracted more than 7000 attendees and garnered $70k in earned media. The streets of Portland's Pearl District were filled with people dancing to the Everyone Orchestra and MarchFourth Marching Band, learning how they could volunteer in their local watershed, which farms source their favorite restaurants, and how a plank of wood goes from tree to deck.
January 2006 - June 2006

In January 2006, Three Pin launched the "Youthful Art of Healing" in collaboration with Providence Newberg Health Foundation to create two things: 1) an amazing, gallery-quality permanent art installation for the walls of the new hospital, and 2) to create strong community awareness and excitement for the opening ceremonies of Providence Newberg Medical Center on June 10, 2006 - the country's first Gold LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) hospital.
To create the installation, we paired up ten professional artists (including Three Pin Artists
Eben Dickinson and
James Jack) with nearly 450 school kids in the surrounding Newberg area to harness the vibrancy and power of the children's imaginations and create healing art for the walls of the new medical center. Other artists included were Sam Bernardi, Susan Marrant, Kathy Knowles, Peggy Ross, Sarah Ferguson, Greg Lewis, Shanna Ruyle, Barbara Mason and Eileen Cotter Howell.
In addition to 115 pieces of art ranging from 30 foot murals to sculptures to paintings made from natural pigments, the project also created strong word-of-mouth buzz for the June 2006 opening ceremonies, contributing to more than 3500 attendees at the open house and $65,000 worth of media coverage.

June 2005 - February 2006

Project Little Cottonwood was a unique partnership between Clif Bar and Three Pin Records to co-launch Clif Nectar and Garett Brennan's album Little Cottonwood across the nation. Three Pin Records cut the album with producer Cookie Marenco at the top of Little Cottonwood Canyon where the town of Alta, Utah sits. Cookie and the Three Pin team converted an old log cabin into a studio for five days in the summer of 2005.
"The Keep it Simple Tour" kicked off with Garett Brennan and Peter Rowan on August 28 at the Aladdin Theatre in Portland, Oregon and ended on February 25 at Our Lady of the Snows Chapel in Alta, Utah. Brennan and crew (Teddy Presberg and Will Amend) played shows everywhere from farmer's markets, to street corners in San Fran and Burlington, VT, to house parties and clubs in Boston, organic restaurants in Kennebunkport, ME, and ski taverns in New Hampshire.
The grassroots national tour contributed to $4 million in Clif Nectar sales, resulting in a 1% for the Planet donation of $40k to the Organic Farming Research Foundation. The album is available at most record stores (if they don't have it, just ask and they can order it) and online at
CD Baby.
Three Pin's Project Little Cottonwood inspired the team at Clif Bar to launch the
Clif Green Notes Program, which now includes artists like Gomez and Hot Buttered Rum String Band.

In August of 2004, Three Pin worked in concert with local promoter Lisa Lepine and
Kaosmosis to organize a crescendo of performances that embodied the character of dreams themselves in a tapestry of music, art, dance, fire, and costume. The Oregon Dreamer Finale kicked off with a performance reading of the children's book "Hip Cat" by Garett Brennan and the EBGBs, then Oregon-turned-LA-actor
Wade McCollum performed rock musical pieces from Insight Out. The night culminated with a stellar set of cabaret, Fellini-esque, bass, horn and drum explosions by Portland's favorite band,
MarchFourth Marching Band.

In the summer of 2003, Three Pin Productions worked with Providence Health System to organize the groundbreaking ceremony at the (then) future site of Providence Newberg Medical Center. With the help of the staff at Providence Newberg, we brought 2453 community members out for the "Celebration of 1000 Shovels," shattering the Guinness World Record for largest groundbreaking ceremony ever, and generating more than $50,000 in earned media. The previous record was 1039 at a tire and rubber factory in Lawton, OK.
